Anger and US.How to deal with the Red Monster.

" YOU CAN'T EVEN DO ONE SINGLE THING RIGHT! DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY HARDSHIPS I'VE HAD TO ENDURE TO BRING YOU UP?"....We are often hearing things along these lines from our parents.Everyday,at some point we are angry;sometimes, too angry. And that's when we make matter worse. If you have a sibling, like I do, then getting angry will become a habit. And if you are trying to tutor your sibling, then getting angry is simply inevitable.I try to control anger, and trust me, its really really hard. But if you can, the rewards are substantial! So here are a few tricks that you can use:

1.Take a 'timeout.' Although it may seem cliche, counting to 10 before reacting really can defuse your temper.Just do not react instantly, because everyone knows you will regret it seconds later.

2.Get some space. Take a break from the person you're angry with until your frustrations subside a bit.

3.Get some exercise. Think that the football is the person you are angry with and then bend it like Beckham! Physical activity can provide an outlet for your emotions, especially if you're about to erupt. Go for a brisk walk or a run, swim, lift weights or shoot baskets.Or even video games! You can't imagine how first person shooter helps in this case! Shooting madly at virtually everyone is an awesome way to release your anger!

4. Identify solutions to the situation. Instead of focusing on what made you mad, work with the person who angered you to resolve the issue at hand.

5.Use 'I' statements when describing the problem. This will help you to avoid criticizing or placing blame, which can make the other person angry or resentful — and increase tension. For instance, say, "I'm upset you didn't help with the housework this evening," instead of, "You should have helped with the housework." This is actually a very good political and diplomatic solution.

6.Don't hold a grudge. If you can forgive the other person, it will help you both. It's unrealistic to expect everyone to behave exactly as you want.FORGIVE AND FORGET!

7.Use humor to release tensions. Lightening up can help diffuse tension. Don't use sarcasm, though — it's can hurt feelings and make things worse.Lame jokes are also welcome! Just make sure its isn't so lame that the other person gets angry back at you!

8.Practice relaxation skills. Learning skills to relax and de-stress can also help control your temper when it may flare up. Practice deep-breathing exercises, visualize a relaxing scene, or repeat a calming word or phrase to yourself, such as "Take it easy." Other proven ways to ease anger include listening to music, writing in a journal and doing yoga.Metallica's St.Anger might help you.

So, next time your mom yells at you, give her an idiotic smile. Hum a song and prance off in a jubilant mood.I'm sure your mom would crack a smile....

The Others

Just finished watching the fourth episode of season 4 and I noticed a couple of things. The way the episode portrayed the Others was extremely intriguing since the books do not divulge too much information about this icy mystique. In the episode, we first sense that the Others are about to come when we see the poured water freezing in front of Ghost. Whenever the Others appear, the temperature drops or they appear WHEN the temperatures drop. Research about them is scarce, as Samwell Tarly says in book five (small spoiler, sorry!). Whatever the case, they are correlated with a drop in temperatures. If you see water freezing instantly, you better get your dragon steel ready. We then see one of the Other taking the sacrificed baby on a horse to a mountain. This is where things get really interesting. The one riding the horse is the familiar Other. We have seen him before. He was the one leading the attack against the Night's Watch men on Fist of the First Men. But the second Othe...

Criss Angel Mindfreak: The Wizard of AXN

I'm pretty sure most of us is familiar with Criss Angel, and with good reasons. He is an American illusionist, magician, escapologist and stunt performer. Note that I wrote illusionist first, cause that's what Criss likes to think of himself. His show, Criss Angel Mindfreak, is broad casted on AXN on Wednesdays, at 16:30 GMT. Believe me, his illusions are mindblowing, and apparently impossible! But that's what Criss is best at;making the impossible seem normal! Allow me to give an example. Criss Angel has set himself the target of walking across Lake Mead, the largest lake in US. And he does succeed. He walks on water for about 200 yards. Now, remember people, its a lake.So it rules put any theories of plexiglass pillars. Moreover, Criss, at the end of his walk, start to sink under the water, eventually disappearing completely! The illusion is simply awesome, and many critics have failed to provide an explanation for this! One explanation says " He had completed construction...

Here's to Beethoven's 9th

This week was a LONG one. I didn't sleep a single day stress free, but heck, that's what college life is all about! Right now, I am way out of my comfort zone in my class. I'm taking Music in Stanley Kubrick's films, and I have no knowledge about music. I am learning how to describe music and all these new terms. Sometimes, it feels a bit overwhelming, with 2 tests, one presentation and 1 weekend project every week. But in the midst of all these chaos, I found one thing: Beethoven's 9th. I cannot describe the music maestro's 9th symphony and that's what is most beautiful about this masterpiece. Its everything and nothing at the same time. Its life made sound. Its energy made vibrations. Those crescendos takes you up high in the sky and let's you fly. It lets the emotion flow through your body smoothly. And the 4th movement fills you up with this inexplicable happiness. Oh! When they start the chorus, I feel something running through my body- something...
